Dave is an ordinary highschooler in New York. Too ordinary that he one day decides to become a superhero. He fashions a costume out of scuba gear and waits for an opportunity to save someone. When he tries to beat up some thugs, he fails miserably, and ends up in the hospital, with metal platings in his head. He recuperates and is still determined to live a superhero life. He trains, and one night, encounters a group of troublemakers at a diner. He successfully fights them, and an onlooker has it all on tape and posts it on YouTube. His video becomes an instant hit. Now dubbed "Kick-Ass," he continues to fight crime. Meanwhile, Damon and his daughter Mindy are doing some fight training themselves, they also have superhero alter egos, Big Daddy and Hit Girl, respectively. Damon is an ex-cop with a grudge against crime kingpin D'Amico for destroying his life and career. Mindy is a feisty young girl, with a foul mouth, and fierce fighting skills. One day the three superheroes paths meet when they take on D'Amico's thugs. D'Amico is livid, and his son Chris volunteers to become "Red Mist" to get closer to Kick-Ass. Kick-Ass and Chris one day find the latter's mansion torn to shreds, and Kick-Ass finds out it is Big Daddy's doing. Kick-Ass, Big Daddy, and Hit Girl meet, not knowing that D'Amico has tailed them. A huge fight ensues, and Hit Girl escapes. D'Amico has set up an execution for Big Daddy and Kick-Ass, Hit Girl comes to rescue them but is too late and her dad burns to death. Together she and Kick-Ass plan their revenge. At D'Amico's office, Hit Girl runs after D'Amico, and Kick-Ass fights Red Mist for a final showdown. Guns ablazing, and bodies being thrashed everywhere, Kick-Ass shoots D'Amico with a bazooka and ends it. The two superheroes leave the scene on a flying jet pack... Red Mist on the otherhand plans to avenge his father's death.
