Phil Weston has spent almost his entire life dealing with his overly-sport competitive father, Buck. Buck trades Phil's kid to another team because he is not a very good soccer player. Phil eventually becomes the coach of his son's team, The Tigers. When Phil realizes that he can't run the show on his own, he asks his father's arch rival Mike Ditka to help assistant coach.

Ditka immediately agrees and they both start coaching. Two Italian boys join the the Tigers and they basically start a two-man show. Phil benches his son and is focused more on winning than playing everyone. When Buck and Phil compete for the championship, Phil has become as competitive as his father.
