Warren (Barrile) is five months behind on the rent and has an extra room in his apartment because his lover moved out on him. A friend, Pino (De Sando) places an ad in the newspaper on Warren's behalf, seeking a GWM roommate. Frankie (Scotti) is a baker at a pizzeria and an aspiring actor living in the Bronx, who decides to move out of his family's place when he comes home one evening and walks in on his brother in bed with his girlfriend.

Deciding that he wants to live in Manhattan in order to get his acting career going, Frankie sees Warren's ad and answers it. Unfortunately, he has misinterpreted the "GWM" and believes it stands for "Guy With Money." He goes to see the apartment, meets Warren but still does not clue in. The landlord likes him because he has money andd accepts him as a tenant right away. Frankie and Warren have very different personalities but as time goes by, their developing friendship turns into a strong one after Frankie realizes the truth about Warren's sexual identity. He gets past it and finds he's found a good friend in Warren as well as the other men in Warren's circle.
