Edmund Exley (Gut Pearce) is an ambitous young detective fighting his way up the the ranks. Bud White (Russell Crowe) is an agressive detective with a disgust for men who beat women. When investigating a massacre at a coffee shop, a simple answer is found when the police catch 3 black people for the crime. But Exley thinks that there is more to this than the report claims. Trouble starts brewing when he investigates.
