Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Let Me In

A young boy befriends the young girl next door, who happens to be a centuries old vampire. Owen keeps to himself and is a shy, bullied boy. He is intrigued by the new occupants at the apartment next door, a young girl and her dad. The girl, Abby isn't friendly, but every night when Owen hangs out by the playground, he sees her there. Abby's "dad" isn't really her father but her guardian, and has killed many people by draining their blood to give to Abby. Abby becomes very weak and irritable when she doesn't feed, and although Owen sees her on occasion, he is clueless that she's a vampire. One night, Abby's guardian takes longer than usual to hunt for blood, so Abby takes matters in her own hands and kills a stranger under a drain pipe. Her guardian is furious for this break in protocol and scolds her. In their evening playground meetings, Abby and Owen start becoming friends. Owen teaches her the morse code so they can communicate through their apartment walls. Abby advises him to stand up to the bullies and tells him that she can help him if need be. At this point, Abby's guardian discourages Abby from seeing Owen, but she ignores his request. On one hunt, Abby's guardian botches a kill, and in an attempt to hide his identity, he burns his face with acid. In the hospital, Abby visits him, he is dying and offers his blood to Abby. He later jumps to his death below. Abby is now orphaned and turns to Owen for comfort. Without her frequent blood runs, Owen now learns of her true identity. Hungry, she attacks a girl and boy. The girl survives and turns, but burns when she is hit by the sunlight. Meanwhile, the detective assigned to the serial killings tracks Abby down to the apartment, she kills him. Abby tells Owen that she must now move to another place again. In school, Owen is bullied in the school pool and is about to drown, when Abby shows up and viciously kills all the bullies. Owen and Abby go on the run, with Owen designated as Abby's new guardian.

Best part of story, including ending: I like the pace of the story, because it describes to a tee the isolation that Abby feels as a vampire child, and she finds solace in Owen's friendship.

Best scene in story: The pool scene when the boys pay their dues was shocking but gratifying.

Opinion about the main character: Owen is neglected by his mother, and he finds a true friend and companion in Abby.
