A rather by-the-numbers horror-thriller about employees of a mining operation 16,000 feet below the surface of the Atlantic to extract silver and other precious metals from the sea bottom. Something weird gets aboard their station and runs amok, killing them one by one. There's the same microbe invading the blood, the same gooey stuff dripping from the rafters, the same long snaky limbs making quick strikes out of nowhere, the same plunging into and out of people's chests, the same faces of lost crewman preserved on the surface of the creature, the same survival of the obligatory black member of the crew to show we're racially sensitive. But Peter Weller (Robocop) does a decent job as the leader of this bunch, Richard Crenna has a nice turn as the ambivalent doctor, and Amanda Pays obligingly disrobes several times.
