It's summer and teenagers are off to camp. Two fifteen year old girls from different sides of the tracks take an instant dislike to each other on their first day. Ferris Whitney (O'Neal) is a spoiled rich kid while Angel Bright (McNichol) is a streetwise girl from a rough neighborhood. Ferris challenges Angel to a competition- whoever loses their virginity by the end of the summer is the winner. Angel immediately rises to the challenge and accept the bet. The rest of the girls at the camp takes sides- half believe that Ferris will win and the other half go with Angel. Ferris sets her sights on the older and sophisticated camp counsellor Gary (Assante) while Angel works on a rebellious tough guy from the neighboring boy's camp named Randy (Dillion). The girls are in for a summer they will never forget. One succeeds in losing her virginity, the other lies about it but in the end they discover that real friendship is one of life's greatest gifts.
