Two black criminals, Percy and Calvin, are out to steal a big diamond. Calvin is a “little man” – a midget the size of a two-year old child; nevertheless, he is the leader and the mastermind. He plans out the “operation” and does the most important part. Percy walks into the jewelry store carrying Calvin in a large bag and distracts the sales woman, pretending to be a rap star who wants to blow money. While she is busy with the important client, Calvin sneaks out, steals the diamond, and hides back into the bag. Things go wrong when another customer's dog gets curious and jumps into the bag as well. As Percy starts to leave, the dog barks, and the owner accuses him of stealing the dog. Percy panics and runs. The diamonds disappearance is discovered as well, and the sales woman calls the police. Chased by the police, Percy and Calvin get into a small store, where Calvin ditches the diamond into a young woman's purse, planning to retrieve it later. He fails to do that; the woman and her husband leave. Percy and Calvin follow them and find out where they live.

It turns out that the couple, Darryl and Vanessa, are having a little disagreement about not having a baby. Darryl wants one very much, he dreams to be a father, but Vanessa thinks they should wait for a couple of years. Darryl is very unhappy about it. Percy comes up with an idea: if Darryl wants a baby so bad, Calvin should pose as one, get into the house and take the diamond back. He gets Calvin is shaved, dressed up as a baby, and leaves him in a basket at Darryl and Vanessa's door with a misspelled note asking to please take care of him.
Darryl and Vanessa find the “baby” and take it inside. They call the social services, but the children's department is closed for the weekend, so they decide to keep the “child” until then. Although Calvin makes a rather strange-looking child, with his big teeth and a tattoo, he passes for one. He cannot retrieve the diamond right away and therefore has to endure all kinds of “baby treatment” including drinking milk, wearing diapers, and having his temperature taken rectally. Needless to say, he hates it and cannot wait to get out. Another problem he's got is Vanessa's father: the old man is very suspicious about him. But Darryl is having a ball trying to be a good father for the “little boy”; he takes him out to the park to play, feeds him, introduces him to his friends, and throws him a birthday party, assuming that his irresponsible parents never gave him one. He is actually right: Calvin never had a caring dad, and, despite himself, he begins to appreciate everything Darryl is doing for him.
Vanessa's father sees a news report about the stolen diamond, where “Calvin Baby Face” is shown as well as one of the suspects. He reveals the truth to Vanessa and Darryl right when Calvin manages to sneak out with the diamond. However, when he learns from Percy that Darryl and Vanessa are in danger, he goes back. Little as he is, he saves them from the mobsters that Percy sent to their house, and Darryl, in return, saves him from jail by making him to give the stolen diamond to the police.
