Pursy Hominy Will has grown up to fast and grown up without a mother or a father. When she gets a letter informing of her mothers death and the fact that she inherited a part of her mothers house in the heart of Louisana. So Pursy leaves her red neck boyfriend in the trailer park in Florida and high tails it to Louisana.

When Pursy gets to her mothers house she finds that it is aready being occupied by two of Pursy's mothers old friends. The Ornery Bobby Long a middle aged former English Professor and the handsome Lawson Pines. Lawson is Bobby's Former teaching assistant, confidante and Bobby's drinking partner who has been working on Bobby's biography for many years now.
Pursy and the two men eventually get into a rhythm of things with each other and really become one anothers family. Pursy falls in love with Lawson and starts to get the father figure she always needed out of Bobby. Everything goes along fine until a startling discovery about Percy's inheritance sends her off the deep end.
