Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Melancholia

A rogue planet by the name of Melacholia has broken its orbit with a distant star and is on a collision course with planet Earth. Justine is getting married and her sister Claire as well as the rest of the wedding party are under the assumption that Melancholia will miss Earth completely given the reports of scientist around the globe. But as the threat of Melancholia colliding with Earth grows larger the lives of the two sisters, as well as everyone else involved grows dimmer, and the inevitability of their situation becomes more apparent.

Best part of story, including ending: It is a solemn take on the apocalyptic film sub-genre. It doesn't shy away from just how dire the situation is and it shows the full spectrum of human emotion when it comes to confronting one's own mortality.

Best scene in story: The film is very poignant throughout but the final scene of the film is very touching and heartfelt.

Opinion about the main character: Both characters were very visibly distraught throughout and it made them seem very selfish and irrational at points. The characters were both likable but only in the sense that you pity both of them and their situation.
