Susan is hit by a Quantonium meteor and becomes a gigantic woman. The U.S. army takes her to a secret underground facility where other "monsters" like her are kept. There's the Missing Link (an amphibious lizard), Dr. Cockroach (a science genius), B.O.B. (a blob-like creature), and Insectosaurus (a big caterpillar). When an alien leader named Gallaxhar comes to earth looking for Quantonium to power his cloning machine, the government enlists the monsters' help. If the monsters beat Gallaxhar, they will be set free. The monsters face off with a massive alien robot in San Francisco, but despite the odds, were able to beat it. Gallaxhar realizes that the Quantonium he needs is in Susan, now named Ginormica, so he abducts her and brings her to his ship. Gallaxhar extracts the Quantonium from Susan, who returns back to her normal size. Soon, clones of Gallaxhar are mass-produced, while the rest of the monsters sneak into the ship to rescue Susan. The team sets the ship to self-desctruct, Susan fights Gallaxhar to re-absorb the Quantonium, and saves her friends. They escape from the exploding ship. Once treated as misfits, they are accepted by humankind as heroes.
