At the age of six, Danny helped to deliver Grace Swan and swore to himself to marry the little Anna who was born on that day. 25 years later, Danny, who has been raised in England, comes back to California to work as a tiler. He meets by chance the Swan family and soon manages to become a special friend to its members. For instance, he will help Nina Swan, a blind young woman, to overcome her anxiety by making her leave the house and socialize.

But Danny's main intention is to fulfill the wish he made when he was six that is to marry Anna Swan. Unfortunately for him, Anna is on the verge of marrying the politically correct Eric and Danny's advances irritate at first the young woman. She will be forced, because of Danny's psychological pressure, to take a good look at the life she had until then and at the passionate love she claims to feel for Eric. As everybody seems to notice that she and Danny form the perfect couple, Anna doesn't know anymore what to listen to: her reason or her heart.
