Billy Crystal stars as Sammu Kamin, a struggling movie agent. Sammy, who is really down on his luck, goes to a movie set in Romania to meet with his only client, his former paperboy Justin Allen. There he finds out that Justin is moving on to bigger and better things so he fires Sammy. Despondent over this Sammy drives the countryside until he loses control of his car. It overturns in a pond and he thinks he is going to die until a big pair of hands save him (he thinks it is the hands of god taking him to heaven). Later on he wakes up in a monastery and discovers that a seven and a half foot man saved him named Max Zamphirescu (Gheorghe Muresan). He befriends this man and gets him cast in the Romanian movie as the perfect villian. From there Sammy thinks he can bring him to America and get his own fledgling career off the floor by making this giant a giant movie star. Along the way Sammy realizes how good a person Max is and cares for his feelings and we watch as Sammy regains his family while finding Max's long lost love.
