At the age of eight, Neil and Brian are abused by their baseball coach. For Neil, who seems to be born with a tendency to homosexuality, this experience fortifies his inclination. The teenager will become a male prostitute in his Kansas hometown, unable to develop a relation based on love or affection. When he's eighteen years old, Neil leaves Kansas to go to NYC and goes on earning his life in the city as a prostitute.

Brian doesn't remember what has happened that summer. He uses to tell his parents and his relations that, when he was 8 years old, five hours disappeared from his life. He is convinced that he was abducted by aliens and makes the acquaintance of Avalyn Friesen, a young woman also pretending to have been abducted, who urges him to investigate his past and to write down his dreams. Brian will finally understand that the answer to his questions has something to do with the baseball team and he decides to find Neil, the best player of the team then.
