Triton tells the story of how he used to have a relationship with Jean's mother Jenny in a small cafe along with Elliot, but discontinued the relationship after having a premonition that Jenny were going to die while giving birth. Not too long afterwards, Jenny marries Jean's father Whitney, oil businessman and good friend of both Triton and Jenny. Sadly shortly after, Jenny did indeed died while giving birth to their daughter.

Triton also had a devastating vision that Whitney will soon die as well in a plane accident and begs for her to alarm her father before it is too late. Jean believes the story as she fondly remembers as a young girl that her father told her that John had true talent as a psychic and foretells that he will strike it big as a successful businessman. Elliot however, does not buy the story and passes off John as a scam artist that want to get money from his finacee. Elliot goes as far to order police protection from John as he believes John is a danger to Jean and a very crazy man. Smart-mouthed Lt. Shawn is sent to Jean's home among other detectives to watch over her, and even goes as far to lock John up. Jean's untimely death awaits her and John is not around to stop it from happening.
