A girl starts to have strange and disturbing nightmares involving a man with knives for fingers on one hand. Her friends then begin to end up dying one by one. She then realizes that this is the work of a homicidal maniac named Freddy Krueger who killed around 20 kids, but was killed by the girls mother and several other parents. She then realizes that Freddy is out for revenge on all the kids of Elm Street.
