Norbit is a comedy about a man who was deserted as a little baby by his parents on the doorstep of a Chinese restaurant/orphanage owned by Mr. Wong. Norbit was raised at that restaurant. Norbit as a kid in elementary school was saved from bullies by a mean kid called Rasputia, she later became Norbit's girlfriend.

When Norbit grew up he was forced to marry Rasputia by her three older brothers. Rasputia was cheating on Norbit with a workout instructor and Kate returns to town, Kate is Norbit's childhood crush. Norbit asks Kate out for lunch but his hopes of getting close to Kate shatters when Kate introduces him to her fiance.

Rasputia's brothers want to obtain the restaurant because it has a liquor license but Mr. Wong sell the place to Kate. So Rasputia's brothers use Norbit to unknowingly get Kate to sign the place over to the brothers. When Kate finds out she leave Norbit and agrees to marry her fiance but what Kate doesn't know is that Rasputia threatens to actually harm Kate if Norbit doesn't force her out of his life.

At the end when Kate is about to get married Norbit receives a background check on her fiance with a criminal past of having numerous wives and children. Norbit goes to their wedding and personally confronts him in the church about his criminal record.
