Alternate title: "Flame over India." For the British, colonial India serves as their wild west. In this case, "Stagecoach" is set on a train carrying an Indian Hindu prince to safety from the rebelling Muslim -ahem- Indians. Legitimate criticism of British colonialism and the arms industry are made, but not so that it gets in the way of the high adventure of the small group of travellers who must work together to survive the hazardous journey. Fine acting makes the multi-ethnic types convincing, and makes sure the character types do not descend into demeaning stereo-types too much. The not completely unpredictable action set pieces are thrilling enough, and there's even a touch of unexpected romance.
