Based on a novel by WIlliam P. McGivern, Odds Against Tomorrow stars Robert Ryan as Earl Slater. The movie opens up with Slater going to see David Burke (Ed Begley) at a hotel. It's here the Burke offers Slater a chance at a possible fifty thousand dollar payoff for a bank robbery. Rght after Slater leaves, Burke gets a visit from Johnny Ingram (Harry Belefante) and he offers Johnny a spot on this heist. There is some friction between Slater and Ingram and Burke tries to diffues that by taking Slater upstate to where the bank robbery will take place. Burke shows him him how easy the job is but Slater still has reservations about working with a black man. Both Slater and Ingram have financial and women problems which persuade them to take the job.
