OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN is a movie directed by George P. Cosmatos in 1983.

Bart Hughes's wife and kid left home to spend a week on vacation in Vermont. Bart plans to use this quiet period to work 18 hours a day on an important professional project. On the same night, a rat comes in the house. Bart will use the latest traps and poisons in order to kill the rodent but fails. So he decides to declare a total war to the animal and shuts himself up in his house. Three days later, the house is nearly completely destroyed, the rat still alive and the animal starts to attack Bart Hughes.
