Pauline, a 15 years old girl, is on holiday with her cousin, the sculptural Arielle Dombasle. On the beach, they meet Pierre, with whom Arielle Dombasle had an affair before her marriage 5 years before. Now divorced and free, Arielle could resume her liaison with a still loving Pierre but she prefers to go out with Edmond, a womanizer who's cheating on her as soon as she's turning her back. Pauline and Pierre don't understand Arielle's choice but their opposition strengthens Arielle's love for Edmond.
