Dr. Noah Praetorius is a medical professor loved by most of his students and is one interesting character objects to match his personality- his desk shaped like a kidney. His colleague Professor Elwell has a bone to pick with Praetorius-not much of a reason to dislike him except for pure jealously which strucks him madly over the fact that he well respected and warmhearted to everyone that comes across Noah. Elwell is determined to find one thing that he can find on Praetorius to just ruin his reputation.

This suppose messed up reputation comes into a form of a young lady and Noah's student named Deborah Higgins. Higgins is distraught and has the thoughts of suicide hanging over her head because; one is the loss of her military boyfriend and two, she'd recently found herself to be pregnant and this news may bring shame into her family, especially being unmarried. Her uncle, a angry and bitter old man that will not hesitate to kick her out of the family home and into the streets if finding out her secret.
Dr. Praetorius reassured the young lady things will be alright and tells a little fib that he will marry her to keep things settled between the woman and her family. After keeping Higgins under his care care for a few days, Higgins leaves mysterouly and Praetorious is searching for the patient whereabouts and along with his goodhearted pal Mr. Shunderson. Along their search, they get into contact with Higgin's father John-who'd seem the opposite of his brother and more understanding of his daughter's situation. the doctor finally get back in touch with Higgins and at that moment the woman begin to fall in love with her doctor. Meanwhile Elwell is waiting for bad things to happen for Praetorius and wants to pry on his life, by trying to get through his Mr. Shunderson.
