A radio DJ keeps getting requests by a lady to play the song Misty.
One night, the DJ meets a woman in a bar and they spend the night together. The woman becomes obsessed with the DJ.
The DJ discovers that the woman is the one that kept requsting the song. He breaks it off with the woman and tries to rekindle a relationship with his on/off girlfriend.
The woman begins stalking the DJ. One night, while at the DJ's house, she tries to kill herself by cutting her wrists.
The DJ feels sorry for her, but refuses to take her back.
One day the woman breaks into the DJ's house and tears the place apart. When the housekeeper catches her, she stabs the housekeeper and tries to kill her.
The DJ realizes that the crazy woman is now going after his girlfriend so he calls a detective. The detective goes to the girlfriend's house and is killed by the crazy woman.
The DJ arrives at his girlfriend's house to find her tied up and gagged. The stalker attacks him with a butcher knife. He fights her off and after a struggle he throws her off the balcony overlooking a cliff where she falls to the ocean far below.

PLAY MISTY FOR ME is the first movie directed by Clint Eastwood in 1971. The movie's theme greatly inspired, a few years later, the authors of Fatal Attraction.
Dave Garver is a late night radio anchorman harassed by Evelyn Draper, one of his fans, with whom he's spent a night once. Evelyn tries to be part of Dave's life and becomes completely insane when he rejects her advances. Soon she will attack anyone approaching Dave.
