Joe, Johnny's mentor, feels betrayed and breaks Johnny's hand so he can't play pool even if he wanted to.
Danny, Johnny's brother is a pretty good pool player too.
However, he gets hustled and loses two thousand dollars to, Brad, a pro player managed by Joe. Danny doesn't have the money and tries to run, but Joe and Brad catch him and beat him up. To get the money, Danny robs a pawn shop, but gets caught and arrested.
To raise enough money to get his brother freed, Johnny agrees to play against Brad.
Joe wants to play for big money so Johnny's girlfriend's uncle, Mike, who's rich and who's bet on Johnny before agrees to back him.
After several games of back and forth, Joe wants to raise the stakes to twenty thousand.
However, Mike proposes a bet of over eighty thousand.After some hesitation Joe agrees.
The game comes down to the last shot, where Johnny tricks Brad with a small time con, makes the shot and wins the game.

A pool hustler, Johnny, quits pool because his boss, Joe, cheated him and took away his shot at becoming a pro. Now Johnny's younger brother Danny is eager to live up to his brother. Danny seems to be doing pretty well until he loses $5000 to Joe's new protege. Danny tries to rob a store, but gets arrested. Now Johnny, along with his girlfriend, her uncle, and Danny's friends challenges Joe's new protege to win enough money to bail out Danny.
