In the distant future vampires and humans fought a centuries long battle for control of the planet.Desperate to win the battle against the bloodsuckers, humans erected giant walls and came under rule of a group called "The Church," a militaristic theocracy which trained elite warriors to combat the vampires, the elite warriors are called Priests. The humans eventually won but at a great cost. Much of the planets surface was ravaged and wrecked by constant conflict. Now, that the war is won many of the Priests stay within the walls shunned by society but feared nonetheless for their combat prowess. The vampires were forced onto reservations that are heavily patrolled and fortified. Then there are humans who choose to not live within the walls of the city for a bit more freedom.

Priest was one of the elite warriors during the many battles fought against the vampires, but now without a fight he feels out of place in society until one day he is approached by Hicks who tells Priest some bade news. Which is Priest's sister-in-law as well as his brother are dead, and his niece is missing. Hicks also suspects that it is vampires who did the deed. Priest informs one of the heads of the church Monsignor Orelas of this fact and also informs Orelas that he intends to hunt down the vampires. But without proof his request is denied. Priest breaks his vow and goes off without permission and begins investigating the strange happenings with Hicks. Monsignor Orelas is none to pleased and sends three Priests after the renegade warrior.
After fighting a few vampires and discovering that all of the guards at one of the vampire reservation are dead Priest has a feeling something big is about to go down. Unfortunately, he's right there are much bigger things going on behind the scenes and a very powerful Vampire named Black Hat intends on rekindling the fires of war. Now it is up to Priest Hicks and Priestess to stop the blood sucker before he sends humanity back to the Dark ages.
Best part of story, including ending:
The story was really complex but it just felt like the film didn't take the story far enough. It could have been better had the film focused a bit more attention to story and less attention to cool action scenes.
Best scene in story:
The final fight between Black Hat and Priest. It was a different take on the standard western trope of fighting on top of a train.
Opinion about the main character:
He felt under developed. This was a character shunned by society, yet still fulfilling his duty to authority figures. He is also a killing machine, but feels strong enough bonds with his family to break his oath, and through all of this he seemingly has only one facial expression throughout the majority of the film. The character is a little hard to digest and his stoic nature is a bit unrealistic given his circumstance.
