Danny Ciello is a cop dedicated to his work and loyal to his colleagues. The sense of the risky situations that he faces daily gives him a adrenalin rush; busting pushers and putting them all behind bars. Ciello works for the Special Investigative Unit in New York City and his partners is frequently called "princes of the city" due to their loyalty with each other and keeping their best the keep the streets "safe".

However Rick Cappalino is a counsel for the US Department Justice and personally ask Ciello to investigate on the bad deeds many cops done on the job. Many of them smuggle in narcotics to pushers, most even buy the drugs from the seller. Though it may be a hard to pill swallow for Ciello as this means he may have to turn in some of his partners and countless of other professionals. But Ciello realizes his own misbehavior in the past as he once stole thousand of dollars of drug money himself.

Ready to take out the bad cops to sort out his own wrongdoing, Ciello get all the inside information he needs to put them behind bars, he is willing to get many corrupted professionals, lawyers politicians, district attorneys and fellow policemen but never his own friends in the S.I.U. He agrees to meets with mobsters, a big-time lawyer, a bondsman others while recording their conversation which he has a device wired on his body. As the investigation goes on and some bad guys being thrown into jail, Ciello faced some death threats and has his wife and children under protection. While on the stand in trials ratting some of corrupted men out, federal prosecutors look up the history of Ciello own misdeeds that give the detective some possible severe prison term. But the only way to save himself is to testify against his own men.
