Christina Ricci stars as Carolyn, a pretty, popular sorority girl. She and her sisters are competing for Sorority of the Year, so they decide to do some community service to boost their chances of winning. They begin coaching retarded children and teenagers for a local version of the Special Olympics. Carolyn is assigned to work with Pumpkin, and is initially afraid, but slowly begins to fall in love with him. This causes Carolyn's alienation from her friends and attracts the wrath of her mother.
