Joan Fontaine, the paid companion of Florence Bates, a rich lady, accidentally meets Laurence Olivier - Maxim de Winter - in Monte Carlo. Laurence Olivier is the wealthy owner of Manderley, the family fancy mansion lost in the Cornwall cliffs near the sea. He is still obsessed with the tragic death of his first wife - Rebecca. But soon he asks Joan Fontaine to marry him and takes her to Manderley. The young woman will have to fight against the souvenir of Rebecca that is still haunting everybody's mind and, above all, against Mrs Danvers, the housekeeper of Manderley, who worshipped the first Lady De Winter.
A classic. AND a great movie.
