A group of kids form a rebellion against North Korean militants taking over their American town. Jed is a marine, who's home to visit his dad and brother Matt. Their town is being air invaded by North Korean military. Their dad, the town's police sergeant tells the boys to run and hide out in their cabin in the woods to lay low. Panic engulfs the streets as people are being shot and herded everywhere. One of the kids, Pete gets into an altercation with Jed, prompting him to steal all their supplies and ditching the group the next day. Later, some North Korean soldiers arrive at the cabin, their location disclosed by Pete. Capt. Cho threatens Jed and Daryl by threatening to kill their dads, (Daryl's dad being the mayor) and also being held captive. Jed's dad is held hostage in front of them, and he screams to his sons not to give in to their demands, and he is instantly shot by Cho.

The group scampers and hides in the woods. They find an empty mine and use it as their new base. Jed leads the group with his military tactics, planning attacks that will cripple the enemy. Using the explosives and weapons they've collected they head to town, and create a diversion using Toni (Jed's love interest). When they have the soldiers where they want them, they emerge from cover and shoot them. The next days, they camp out in buildings, firing at soldiers, and also setting up explosives in crucial locations. Cho is furious that he is being overrun by a group of renegades.

When an op almost fails because of Matt's spontaneity and panic over rescuing Erica, he gets into trouble with Jed. The early explosion risked their mission, as well as killed one of their own men. The brothers fight, but iron out their differences.

Cho tries to smoke out the kids from the woods and raids the place with bombs. On the move, they meet an American soldier Tanner and two other men. They join forces. Their new mission is to secure the briefcase that Cho carries, it being a special radio. They believe that it is located at the town police station, they go in and face the soldiers in a gun fight, as well as hand to hand combat. Jed and Cho face-off, while Matt runs to look for the case. Jed kills Cho, and Matt retrieves the case. On the run, the brothers think they're safe, when Jed is suddenly shot in the head.

Tanner gets picked up by a chopper taking the radio with him to safety, however, the rest of the kids want to stay and keep on fighting. Matt becomes the new leader of the group, continuing his brother's fight to defend their home.
Best part of story, including ending: The story of the underdog rising to take what's theirs. How kids without training go rogue and basically just kill any enemy on site.

Best scene in story: When Cho's men do not what hit them, explosions start setting off in various locations and they are caught off guard.

Opinion about the main character: Jed is a soldier through and through, willing to lay his life on the line for his country and family.
