Actors: Peter Sarsgaard, Frank Langella, Susan Sarandon

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Robot & Frank

Frank is an older gentleman who is exhibiting early signs of dementia. His only son, Hunter, checks on him as often as he can, but he lives far away and doesn't see Frank as often as he'd like. So, Hunter surprises Frank with a robot caretaker. Frank is very resistant to the robot's help at first. One reason is that he's uncomfortable with the changing times and technological advancements. You'll also see this in the way Frank behaves in the library where all printed books are being packed away.

Frank soon learns that Robot isn't programed to follow the law, and quickly falls into the familiar routine of his old career as a cat burglar. His mood is greatly lifted and he makes friends with Robot. As they prepare for the robbery, their friendship grows. There is also a spark of romance between Jennifer, the lonely librarian. Add in the excitement of a grand heist and this is a movie that everyone should see.

As the movie progresses, the audience sees how Frank and Robot prepare for Frank's last heist. You also get to watch the relationship between Frank and Jennifer, the librarian, grow. The movie is touching, surprising, thought-provoking, funny, and very well written.
Best part of story, including ending: I loved this movie. It has excitement, romance, friendship, cool futuristic gadgets, and it's very heart-warming.

Best scene in story: This movie is filled with great scenes, especially funny ones. I'd have to say that my favorite one is when Frank's son, a cop, and a couple other men come to the house to take the robot back. Frank wants to keep him. When one of the guys was poking the robot in the head, he remembered earlier at the library that Frank told him to pretend he was going to self destruct. At first, no one believed the robot, but then Frank ran outside. As the robot counted down, everyone looked at each other. When the robot got to 2, everyone ran out the door as fast as they can. But the house didn't explode. I found it very humorous.

Opinion about the main character: I like the main character. He is a realistic representation of someone currently in their late 30s to 40s, and how life could be like 30 or so years in the future. Frank Langella does a terrific job as Frank, a man suffering from dementia and who cautious about the new technology, but still thrives on the thrills of stealing jewels. He is hilarious.
