A cute, independent Aniston's girl of the 90's has a rich, successful lawyer who loves her and wants to marry her, a loving family that's separated by a thousand miles, and a job with a newspaper. However, she's not happy just writing obituaries, she's afraid to make a commitment to "I do" and she's never felt truly part of her family. As she unpacks for her sister's wedding, she wonders why she's has nothing in common with her.

The big scandal in her hometown has been the novel "The Graduate", so she then believes her grandmother is Mrs. Robinson. Mother died when she was young, so she approaches Costner, casually handsome as always, who's now a hugely rich and successful software maker. When he insists he couldn't be her father ("testicular trauma" is repeated like a mantra) they both feel deflated and get drunk. Aniston is horrified to wake in his bed, but is carried away when he begins to court her. However, the boyfriend, frantic that she has ignored his calls, travels cross-country and finds them together, though not in bed.
