Andy Lau was a Buddhist monk when his friend was brutally murdered by a thief. He decided to give up his monk status in order to find the killer. Andy has also developed a special gift that allows him to see past and future events without being able to interfere with them. However, he will nevertheless try to save Cecila Cheung's life after having seen future trouble for this policewoman he has fallen in love with but his efforts will be vain. Cecilia goes to the mountain where the killer who murdered Andy Lau's friend lives. The last part of RUNNING ON KARMA deals with religious (Buddhist) topics.
