This movie is part of a series that follows the lives of four women: Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda (played respectively by
Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon). For various reasons none of the women are happy with the current sex lives so they all immediately accept the offer, when given a chance, to fly off to Abu Dhabi on the tab of a wealthy prince that wants Samantha to design a new marketing campaign for him. When the Sheik agrees to pay for the trip for both Samantha and her friends, they relish the opportunity to go along. Carrie leaves her husband Mr. Big (played by Chris Noth) behind. Samantha is free-wheeling with nothing to lose. Charlotte leaves her husband behind but worries that he might have an extra-marital affair with the nanny.
When Samantha enters Abu Dhabi, the customs officer discovers her stash of libido-enhancing drugs and confiscate them. This leaves her without the pharmaceutical support of the medicines she needs to have a robust sex drive. Charlotte calls her husband constantly because she is worried he will have an affair with the nanny while she is gone. Miranda tries to fit in and accepts the opulence surrounding her, while Carrie makes the moves on the hotel staff man Gaurav. Then Carrie runs into an old lover Aidian.
All four liberated western women, do not fit into the mold of the more conservative middle eastern style which causes quite a bit of conflict. Samantha is arrested by the police for having sex in public which is prohibited. The Sheik cuts off their financial support so they all have to return to the US. All the problems the women have, get worked out by the end.
Best part of story, including ending:
I like the contrast between the wild women of western culture and the more sedate women of the middle east. It is interesting to see that under the robes, the women of the middle east are just a passionate as the western women, only they are not allowed to express this openly.
Best scene in story:
I like when the customs officer takes the libido enhancing drugs away from Samantha. The reaction to this event is very amusing.
Opinion about the main character:
The women are wild, and we love them for it.
