Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Shrek 2

Shrek is happily married, but will he be allowed to live happily ever after? Mrs Shrek (Cameron Diaz) is a princess as well as an ogre, and she wants to take her new husband and rescuer, Shrek the Ogre, home to meet mummy and daddy, the King and Queen of Far Far Away. But Shrek doesn't go down well as a son in law, and daddy the king attempts to have him done away with, and his place taken by Prince Charming, a smarmy fop with a controlling fairy godmother mom. Shrek enlists the help of Puss in Boots (voiced wonderfully by Antonio Banderas) and his trusty friend the Donkey (Eddie Murphy), to win back his bride, and along the way encounters a magic potion which turns him into a hunk and Donkey into a magnificent stallion. Will the honest Shrek win back his bride, before Prince Charming can turn her head? Will she prefer him as a hunk or as the familiar green monster from the first Shrek movie?

In this contemporary fairy tale, Shrek is a man who has magically transformed into an ogre. Fiona is the love of his life who is also an ogre and a princess. Fiona's father, the king, is not happy about this. The Fairy Godmother, with help from the king and the queen, try to get the prince, a human to marry Fiona, turn her back into a human, and leave Shrek without a lover. Though the Fairy Godmother seems to be of good help to Fiona, she is really Shrek's arch enemy. Luckily, Shrek has friends like talking animals, gingerbread men, and other fairy tale characters to help him on his journey. They all join forces to foil the evil plans of the Fairy Godmother. Her magic is very dangerous.

Shrek and Princess Fiona, happily married after the first "Shrek" movie, receive an invitation to her parents' kingdom of Far Far Away for a ball to celebrate their match. The folks are not pleased to see their daughter a permanent ogress; besides, the king had a secret deal with Fairy Godmother to marry his daughter to her son, the vain and effete Prince Charming. So Fairy Godmother schemes to break up the marriage while the king hires an assassin to bump off his new son-in-law. This 2004 sequel is as good as the original, with beautiful animation work, some terrific new characters (the aforementioned FG, and Antonio Banderas's "Puss in Boots"), tons of in-jokes and movie references, and the return of Eddie Murphy's irresistable Donkey.

Shrek, an ogre who just got maried to another ogre Princess Fiona, is invited to the land of Far Far Away. He takes with him his friend and adversary, a donkey named Donkey. At Far Far Away, he meets Fiona's in-laws King Harold and Queen Lillian. But since the evil Fairy Godmother has a plot to end the marriage, such as having Shrek killed by hitman Puss In Boots and Prince Charming trying to steal Fiona, Shrek must prove himself that he is the right husband for Fiona.

This movie picks up with Shrek and Fiona returning from their honeymoon, to find an invitation from her parents for dinner. Unfortunately her parents have no idea she is now an ogre Mom. Dad wants the same thing but he has different ideas about how Fiona would be happy. A Fairy God Mother points out to dad that her son, Prince Charming was promised to marry Fiona. Dad hires a cat named Puss-in-Boots, sword fighter and ogre slayer, to "fix" the problem.
