Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Shutter (2008)

A young couple is haunted by a ghost that appears in their photographs. Jane and Ben just got married and are moving to Japan for Ben's new photography job. Driving to a forest cabin, they get into a car accident because of a girl in the middle of the road. They don't know whether they hit her or not. Later, when Jane goes over her honeymoon pictures, she is baffled by a blurred white figure in several shots. She learns that this is possibly a spirit captured on film. She and Ben go to a spirit photography expert who confirms this, Jane thinks that this could be the girl in the car accident. Meanwhile, other shots taken by Ben have the same blur, Jane goes to the location of the shoot and takes pictures herself and comes upon the name Megumi who Ben claims was a girl who was obsessed with him. The couple track Megumi down, and find her dead in her apartment. Later, Ben's colleague Adam is at a photo shoot taking nudie shots of a model when Megumi attacks him by shattering his camera, injuring his eye. Another friend of Ben's Bruno, jumps to his death from his apartment balcony. Jane is disturbed to find that even their wedding photos have Megumi in them. Ben is slowly being harassed by Megumi's ghost, taunting and seducing him. When they return to the States, Jane finds pictures taken by Ben showing Megumi being sexually harassed by Adam and Bruno. Jane discovers Ben's secret and leaves him. Ben, who has been complaining of a painful shoulder sees a photo of himself, carrying Megumi on his back. He tries to electrocute and kill himself but fails.

Best part of story, including ending: Because spirit photography is a real phenomenon and this movie was able to put a twisted spin on it.

Best scene in story: When Ben sees the cause of his persistent back pain, which is Megumi perched on his back.

Opinion about the main character: Ben is a lying and conniving guy who thought he could get away with hiding his secret.
