Ryan Dunne (Prince Jr.) is a blue-collar kid with aspirations to become a major league baseball player and is the first local boy in years to earn a spot on the team.

The distractions soon start when a beautiful rich young woman named Tenley (Biel) visits the area with her family. Not surprisingly, Tenley's parent do not approve of Ryan because of his less than wealthy family background. He is also having problems with his brother, who pressures Ryan to becoming the best baseball player there is.

When a major league scout comes along, Ryan tries to push his love affair aside because his talent may be his only ticket out of the small town.
