Ensemble film set in a small Florida city just big enough to still have a shred of civic pride and well situated enough to lead some local residents to consider what even more tourism might mean for the city. The film is chiefly concerned with the pressures of development or progress versus personal integrity. The two chief female characters Marly Temple (Falco) and Desiree Perry (Bassett) are each coming to terms with their place in their own lives and in this changing community, if they have one at all. An allegorical tale for most of Florida. Stellar ensemble cast. John Sayles film.
