Actors: Drake Bell, Sara Paxton, Christopher McDonald, Leslie Nielsen

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Superhero Movie

This film is a comedic spoof of super hero movies. Drake Bell plays the lead character of Rick Riker. Rick is a geek. Nobody likes him at his high school. He secretly loves a girl named Jill (played by Sara Paxton), but she is already dating a guy named Lance (played by Ryan Hansen) who picks on Rick. Rick has only one friend, Trey (played by Kevin Hart). They go on a field trip to a scientific lab where the researcher Dr. Strom (played by Brent Spiner) shows them genetically modified dragon flies. One of the dragon flies has escaped. It bites Rick. They also see a guy named Lou (played by Christopher McDonald) who is very sick.

When Rick goes home, he gets very ill. He lives with his Uncle Albert (played by Leslie Nelson) and his Aunt Lucielle (played by Marion Ross). They worry about him when Rick becomes unconscious. But, the next day he wakes up. During this same time, Lou is involved in a science experiment, which goes horribly wrong changing him into a human-eating monster called the Hourglass

Rick goes to a science exhibition. A nasty Stephen Hawkings (played by Robert Joy) is there insulting everyone until he is injured by accident. Rick notices weird things are happening. He gets stuck to a fountain, is much stronger than is possible, and can climb up walls. He goes outside, climbs a wall, and starts break-dancing. He notices a truck bearing down on an old woman walking a dog in the crosswalk. Rick shoves her out of way. Onlookers, including his friend Trey, are amazed, but they do not see Rick pushed her into a wood chopping machine and her dog follows right behind, being dragged in by the leash. Trey says he wants to be Rick's sidekick.

At home, Rick has a disagreement with Uncle Albert, then he has a flashback of when he was a boy and his parents were still alive. He remembers his father told him to invest in Enron instead of Google.
Rick gets invited by a new Facebook friend to visit a school for mutated species. They help him make his costume and give him the super hero name of Dragonfly. He fights with Hourglass but he does no defeat him. Then he saves Jill from muggers. They share an awkward kiss.

Lou comes to Thanksgiving dinner as himself (not as Hourglass). He figures out Rick is Dragonfly. Lou, as Hourglass, kills Aunt Lucille, which almost causes Rick to give up. But Trey and Uncle Albert convince Rick to go after him. Hourglass plans to become immortal by using a Microsoft Death Machine Making Software, which will kill many people. They all go to a convention where Stephen Hawkings is the key note speaker. Stephen Hawkings directs his speech at Rick which turns out to be the words from a Celine Dion song. Hourglass shows up and attacks Jill. Hourglass and Dragonfly fight on the roof of the building. Dragonfly saves Jill from falling by growing wings so he can fly. Dragonfly flies off with Jill at the end for what seems like a happy ending, but they smash into a helicopter.
Best part of story, including ending: This movie is mildly amusing, but not hilarious.

Best scene in story: I like the scene when Dragonfly, who is just learning about his super powers for the first time, saves the granny from being hit by a truck only to throw her into the wood-chopper. It's sick, but funny.

Opinion about the main character: A dragonfly is stupid, it would be more funny if he was a cockroach, or a beetle with the voice of Paul McCartney.
