Leigh Anne is a good student, and has promise to become class valedictorian. The only thing getting in her way is her mean, prejudiced history teacher Mrs. Tingle, who's most likely giving her a low grade. A classmate Luke, steals the answer key from a test, but Leigh Anne wants no part of it. He stashes it in her bag, and Mrs. Tingle finds it, telling Leigh Anne that she is to be expelled. After school they, along with another student Jo Lynn, go to Tingle's house to beg. But the argument blows up, and Luke threatens Tingle with a crossbow and knocks her out. They hold Tingle hostage until they figure out how to get out of the mess. While being held hostage, Tingle taunts them psychologically. Leigh Anne on a dare, sleeps with Luke, while Jo Lynn is being played against Leigh Anne. Later, they blackmail Tingle using provocative pictures of her and the gym teacher. They change their grades in the grade book as well. When one student drops by the house, Tingle accidentally shoots her. The principal also drops by, and Leigh Anne makes Tingle confess. Tingle is laid off, and Leigh Anne graduates with honors.

Best part of story, including ending:
We all harbor some animosity to mean teachers we've had before, and it was fun watching these kids get their revenge.
Best scene in story:
When Tingle would manipulate the girls' emotions.
Opinion about the main character:
Leigh Anne seemed harmless at first, but she held her own and didn't back down.
