Louise Elmore is an aging woman who's just learned that she must give up her job. 19 years before, Louise's fiancé disappeared on the day of her wedding and Louise hasn't recovered from this event yet.

She lives alone with her crippled father who doesn't want Louise to leave him. The poor woman often dreams of getting rid of him but will finally choose to help her friend Emily to leave town in order to get married rather than to abandon her tyrannical father.
