The Bodyguard Movie Review Summary

Actors: Kevin Costner, Whitney Houston

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of The Bodyguard

Former U.S. Secret Service agent Frank Farmer (Costner) is still upset that he was away from the job when Hinckley tried to assassinate Reagan. Now a private bodyguard for VIPs at $3,000 a week, he reluctantly takes a job guarding Rachel Marron (Houston), a pop star well on her way to the top. Farmer irritates her and her entourage by insisting on tightening security. The two come from very different worlds, yet become romantically involved, and then the stakes rise when a stalker comes after Marron. This somewhat limp and unbelievable 1992 film was dragged out of the files by writer Lawrence Kasdan some 20 years after he wrote it for Steve McQueen and Diana Ross.

Whitney Houston shines in her first-ever movie, playing a singer, of all things. Kevin Costner is hired to protect Houston's character from a person who wants her dead. The movie takes an interesting twist when the two fall in love. The soundtrack is filled with instant Houston classics, such as I Have Nothing, Run to You and a remake of the Dolly Parton song I Will Always Love You.

This film sees Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston at their best in this classic Blockbuster movie! The movie is set through the eyes of Bodyguard Frank Farmer (Costner) who still feels guilty about not being able to protect the President when he was a secret service agent.

He is approached by a man who asks for his help in protecting an up-coming singer and actress Rachel Marron (Houston). Farmer agrees only to discover what he's let himself in for. Rachel has no idea about the threats made to her and cannot stand Farmer's protocol and disciplined ways. The two do not see eye to eye.

However as Rachel becomes more aware of the threats to her safety and possibly to those around her she allows Farmer to do his job unhindered. However she must go to a prestigous award ceremony inorder to keep afloat her career and also it is important to her. Will Farmer and Rachel allow their hidden attraction to get in the way and will he be able to protect her from her killer-stalker?

A brilliant film that has it all- suspense, romance, action and songs. The only thing that matches this film is the quality of the soundtrack- which includes the famous 'I will always love you.' A film that you must watch over and over and over again!
