Detailed plot synopsis reviews of The Brave

Rafael (Depp) has been in and out of jail for theft, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, and assault. He, his wife, and his two children live in a tiny trailer and he needs a job. He goes to a company who says he has a job for Rafael. Rafael takes the job, a one-time thing that pays $50,000 and a large advance: he agrees to be tortured and killed by men. He spreads the advance around, building an "amusement park" for his kids, showering presents on his wife and relatives, and throwing an enormous party. The man who got him into crime, Luis, wants a piece of this job and won't take no for an answer, even assaulting Rafael's wife while high (probably on cocaine). Rafael goes to Luis's house and they fight, and the next day Rafael reports for work, his wife not knowing that he will never return.
