Mitch and Dave accidentally switched bodies when they made a wish. Mitch and Dave are best friends. Mitch is an actor, and Dave is a lawyer. Dave's family is very rich and MItch visits Dave very often. In random conversation, they both wished they had each other lives. Later that evening they went out for beers and got drunk. On the way home, they stopped to pee in a fountain unknown to them this was a magic fountain, and somehow when they woke up the next morning they had switched bodies.

Dave who had no time in his busy schedule as a lawyer to spend with his family, had to learn in Mitch's body the truth about how his wife really felt about him. Dave had to also learn to be free spirited, and spontaneous in Mitch's body. He also found how much of a sex drive Mitch had and he had to act accordingly.

Mitch on the other hand had to learn responsibility, and how to be organized in Dave's body. He also learnt with no legal background how to win over a proposal with a big company. Mitch also had to learn how to be a dad, and a husband which is completely different from his usual raunchy lifestyle.

Eventually they began to miss their lives and went in search of the statue, but it had been moved. When at last they found it, it was in the center of a busy mall they had to act quickly before the authorities pounced and so they did what they had to do, but sadly nothing happened. They remained in each other's body. They did not switch until there was a selfless act of Mitch in Dave's body where he confessed the truth of the initial switch, and also when they began to miss their lives.
Best part of story, including ending: It is often said that we should be careful what we ask for Mitch and Dave's antics in each others bodies made this movie worthy of display in the comedy genre.

Best scene in story: It is always good to see a character grow. Mitch who is known as the joker actually developed a sense of responsibility and took the time to do the work necessary to secure the contract. This scene truly shows positive development of his character.

Opinion about the main character: Dave was bit too uptight and he was also a snob. He was also too busy to spend quality time with his family. At times it seemed like he was too busy even for himself.

In a magical event, where their wishes are granted, the main characters of Mitch Planko (played by Ryan Reynolds) and Dave Lockwood (played by Jason Bateman) change places. After urinating in a fountain at the same time during a drunken night out and wishing they could be the other man, the next morning they each find themselves in the body of the other man. Mitch is a play-boy actor, always taking new girls to bed. Dave on the other hand, is a married family man with kids and very conservative successful lawyer at a big law firm. They try to go back to the place where the switch happened to re-create the experience in order to get back into their original bodies, but the fountain they peed in, is moved and it will take them a short time to figure out where it is located. Because of this, they agree to pretend to be the other guy for the time being. Mitch (in Dave's body) goes to the law office and immediately botches up a big case because he doesn't know what he is doing. Dave (in Mitch's body) goes to a movie shoot to find, to his surprise, the film that they are making is pornography.

Dave soon tires of having Mitch's life. All Dave wants to do is get his old life back. Dave tries to explain the truth to Dave's wife Jamie (played by Leslie Mann) but she doesn't believe him. Mitch, upon the advice of his father, does his best to do everything that is required by Dave's life including taking care of the kids and making Jamie happy but he fails when it comes time to have sex with Jamie and cannot get an erection because of his guilt. Mitch fixes up Dave on a date with Sabrina (played by Olivia Wilde) who is his office assistant that he secretly has a crush on. Mitch teaches Dave how to loosen up and have more fun, to be like him, and even helps him shave his pubes to be more sexy with women. Mitch, in a moment of bravado, closes a big deal at the law firm for a merger at a price that is much higher than the client expects.

They find out where the missing fountain has been moved. It has been re-installed in a big shopping mall. They both go there to try to make the switch back to their own bodies. Because the fountain is in the very center of a busy shopping mall, Mitch gets pee shy and cannot urinate in front of the crowd. Dave starts first, but security is alerted. Mitch finally is able to join him. They escape from being captured when the lights go out and they are switched back to their original bodies.
Best part of story, including ending: Body switch stories are very amusing because one can imagine what it would be like to be another person for a short time.

Best scene in story: It is very funny when the super stud cannot get a erection when he is about to have sex with the wife of his friend.

Opinion about the main character: What is really wonderful, it when they finally let themselves enjoy being the other person and really get a good experience out of what happens.
