THE CHASE is a movie directed by Arthur Penn in 1966.

Bubber Reeves has just escaped from prison and he's now heading to his small Texas hometown. Soon a rumour is spreading among the citizens of the town: Bubber killed a man during his escape. While Sheriff Calder tries to calm down the anxiety of Bubber's friends, some intoxicated rednecks are already thinking of a way to catch Bubber.

A growing number of people is also wondering how Bubber will react when he'll learn that his wife Anna has become Jake Rogers's mistress. Jake is the son of Val Rogers, the wealthiest man of the region. Jake is unhappy with the wife his father has chosen for him and is spending more and more time with Anna, the love of his youth. When Bubber finally arrives, the Sheriff will have to face the vigilantes who question his authority and Val Rogers who fears for his son's life. THE CHASE is a quite interesting story of the life of a remote Texas town in the mid-sixties.
