Detailed plot synopsis reviews of The Children's Hour

A troubled student in a small school spreads rumors that the two headmistresses (Hepburn and MacLaine) are lesbians. As they are about to leave town, the truth comes out. The accuser's grandmother apologizes, but at this point too much emotional damage has been done to the women.

In a stunning and remarkable scene, MacLaine's character reveals that she is in fact in love with Hepburn's character.
