Until Lancey Howard aka "The Man" along with his seductive wife Melba, arrives in New Orleans and hear rumors that another guy is the big talk in town as being the poker champ and winning at every chance he can get. But the rumors are true and The Man anxiously want to see who The Kid is all about. There are talks among everyone that the two poker players will soon be challenging each other; but old rival and fellow poker player Bill Slade hears about the Man's arrival and want to seek revenge.

The Man once embarassed Slade by beating him miserably in the game and now wants payback-not with him facing Howard but with Stoner going head to head with him. Slade's secret plan is to use The Kid's manager Shooter as a bait (or dealer) by manipulating the game so The Kid has every chance at winning it. Meanwhile, Melba has eyes for the Kid and want to pursue him any way she can, even disrupting him playing a serious game as such. Will The Kid find out how the game is set up to be crooked? And will Slade's plan backfired and leave him even more humilated than were before?
