In a small town of the Bretagne region, a 10 years old girl is raped and killed. Inspector Lesage investigates but there is no clue at all. So she decides to listen to people in order to find something interesting that may help her. René Sterne, the drawing teacher of the little girl, is the last person to have seen her alive. Soon, he has to face the local rumors. Meanwhile, his wife, Sandrine Bonnaire, is seduced by the famous journalist Antoine de Caunes that îs enjoying his holiday in the area. Inspector Lesage is puzzled as she's noticing that everybody is lying to her.
