The Duke boys, Bo and Luke Duke, get in trouble with an girls daddy and he starts to chase them with a modified shot gun. They escape in the General Lee, a worn out body and supped up motor 1969 Dodge Charger. They end up wreacking the General and Curter Davenport, the local mechanic and garage owner fixes up the General Lee into show room gem of a car.

Boss Hogg is going around and buying up property and he wants the Duke farm so he frames the Dukes with charges of moonshining. He wants all this property to strip mine. The Duke boys find a core sample and take it to Altanta, GA to a university to find out what is in it. They get in trouble and put in jail then break out with the help of their cousin Daisy. The Atlanta police chase them out of Atlanta. They race back to Hazzard County and try to spoil Boss Hogg's plans.
