The Fog opens up with Mr. Machen (John Houseman) telling what happened to the Elizabeth Dane, a ship where a rich man known as Blake and all men aboard were drowned on the cenetenial celebration of the seacost town Antonio Bay. The son of DJ Stevie Wayne (Adrienne Barbeau) finds a piece of driftwood with the word carved into it. Father Malone (Hal Holbrook) finds a journal written by his grandfather that tells of his and the five founding members of the town were really murderers and thieves. From there on the Fog ( Blake and friends) comes to haunt the town. This is an old fashioned ghost story written By the team that brough you Halloween John Carpenter and Deborah Hill.
