A remarkable cast fails to enliven this sorry 1989 turkey written by John Patrick Shanley after his excellent "Moonstruck." Nick and Frank Starkey (Kline and Keitel, respectively) were both policemen until a scandal forced Nick off the force (and into the fire department!?). A serial killer who has taken 11 lives forces the police to ask unconventionial, semi-hippy Nick back. Police bribery and corruption, and Frank's wife Christine (Sarandon) provide complications as Nick handily figures out the killer's m.o.: killing only on dates that are prime numbers and choosing the locations so that when they are mapped on a computer model of the city they form the notes of a popular song.
